What Is Reiki?
Reiki is performed through a gentle laying on of hands that expands and aligns chi. The patient simply relaxes on a massage style table, fully clothed during the session. The primary benefit experienced is most often one of deep relaxation and stress relief.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Reiki, it is an energy technique discovered by Dr. Makao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century. In 1938, one of Dr. Usui’s students, a Hawaiian-Japanese woman, Hawayo Takata, brought Reiki to the Western world. Although Reiki is relatively new to the West, its foundational principles are thousands of years old and are based upon working with life force energy or “Chi”. Chi is the force that animates all living things and working with Chi is a central part of many disciplines from martial arts to Oriental and Naturopathic medicine.
Through the years, there have been many anecdotal reports of healings, such as pain relief or beyond but this should never be a claim made by any Reiki practitioner and we at Raven Wellness Center do not promote Reiki for these things.
REIKI PRACTITIONERS ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS AND AS SUCH DO NOT DIAGNOSE, TREAT OR CURE ANY DISEASE WHATSOEVER. REIKI SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR YOUR REGULAR MEDICAL CARE.
